Cricket Versus the Lynx?
Because the Lynx has been around long long time and appears to be loved by many, what are the real comparison results when put up against the new Cricket. Just seems a big price difference between the Cricket and the Lynx. almost $300 for 2 extra ports but I do want to do marbles slightly bigger than 1.5" and don't want to be there all night. I would plan to run on two oxy-cons and propane.

The Lynx has GTT's Triple-Mix feature. This means that there are 2 separate controls for the oxygen in the flame.
A better comparison would be the Cricket (5 ports) and the Bobcat (7 ports), both of which do NOT have the Triple-Mix feature.
For your marbles, are you using soft glass, or boro?

Depends on what you mean by all night. The Lynx is definitely the hotter torch hands down, but if you're wanting to save $$, you can definitely do what you want on the Cricket. It will just be slower. (I have 2 Crickets and a Lynx)

If you are running on two oxycons, I would look at the Cricket or maybe Bobcat. The Lynx really needs tanks to get it's full potential I feel. We have a couple Lynx and a Cricket.

I would go with the lynx if you're thinking marbles. You can make them on a cricket but it will take you a bit longer. I run the centerfire of my Phantom (which is a lynx) with two AS-12a oxy-generators.
It'll do more on tanked O2 but they run it well enough. I just have the tanked O2 setup to run the outerfire.

I started on a lynx and very glad with the choice I made. Prefect for soft glass, enough heat to work boro and can run well enough on two oxy cons. certainly worth the money and has great resale value as well.
