The swipe is thin in height, not width so your swipe should be about 2mm wide but maybe 1mm tall. As soon as you've applied the Ekho, take it out of the flame right away (just keep the mandrel near the bead warm) while you melt your clear rod for encasing and then encase and melt down.

I need to take picture. I have been using an opalino blue in place of black (that is because the first time I tried it I was out of black). Then I take the beads - rather large and intersperse them with large silver links. I sell every single necklace I make like this almost immediately. In fact, I currently have one 'on order.'
Love the tutorial! Love experimenting with options also!

My 1st tries with this tutorial. They're so gorgeous in person. I just love this technique. I made some more last night and experimented with different glass, so I'll find out later today how they turned out.

Amber, thank you, thank you, thank you. This tut rocks, as does this thread with the input of other lampworkers' ideas that takes it all to whole new levels, while keeping true to the original concept.
I've tried to emulate your organics as well - I just love your style!
Anyhoo, I've finally got myself some Ekho and, at long bloody last, some decent clear that doesn't soot up on me. I don't know which I'm the most thrilled about.. the ability to encase without ruining a bead, or the silver glass doing its thing.. Either way, I'm just over the moon, and look forward to playing a lot more with this style
Here are the results of my very first attempt:
Same beads, different lights/views:

Here's a necklace of fire opal beads I made to wear to Murano. I got a ton of compliments from the other lampworkers in the class and even from one lady - a stranger at the vaporetto stop in Venice. Thanks for sharing, Amber!

I've been playing around a bit.
This one's Ekho over Ripe Pineapple:
Ekho over Cobalt Trans:
Aurae over Aqua.

I finally got around to try a tutorial, yes finally. And yes, I did read it. I know amazing. Anyhow, thanks for sharing this tutorial. I really love it. I'm addicted don't you know.
I made a few Pandora beads with it, and a focal, I'll show tomorrow when they come out of the kiln. FUN!

What beautiful beads are on this thread. I have to try this again with some of the silvered glasses.
Judith, I just love the ones you made with Clio. And
Ellen, it's easy to see why you got so many compliments on those beads...they're lovely.

That's what I thought Judith, because the silver was so silver on the first set!
