Color Combos
Hi all!
Last night I made some simple round beads. I was using Effetre med. red.
I had premade twisties using the same Medium red and Effetre White. I laid down one simple stripe with the twistie through center of bead. On the finished bead I can barely notice the white and the red (the same red as the base bead is a dark gray color. Anyone know whats causing this? I was heating slowly out in the flame.
My other question is this: If I use intense black on dark turquoise will I receive the typical webbing effect of intense black (making it look somewhat like real turquoise?)
Thanks in advance
Duane

Some colors get swallowed up on beads.... Can't recall a good combo to use as an example right now but sounds like you hit one of them.
Don't know about intense black webbing on turquoise. Know you'll get the black line effect around the turq. but not sure of webbing.

Sounds like you scorched the red melting it in. You may have to increase the white ratio in the twistie. Try making a gather of white on the end of an undipped mandrel. Then put one or two thin stripes of red down the sides making sure they touch the mandel. Melt in, pull and twist out. Melt into your base bead very gently.
I don't know about the turquoise but it sounds like a cool idea to try. Be careful though, turquoise scorches even more easily than red.

Try CIM Peace white instead. It won't get swallowed up.

I've made red and white round beads and if I use white for the base and put any red on top it will be a very light red or grey like what you experienced. I ended up making a base of white, encasing in clear and then adding the dots. Worked like a charm and made the bead look really cool too!

From my experience, both light and dark Effetre turquoise will react with dense black.
