I love Hippie Chick too. It was my favorite until Magpie Magic.
Just a hint on Hippie Chick ... you don't get the full effect until after the kiln!! I liked mine going in and loved them coming out!!

Donna, thanks for your order! It will go out today. And yep, Laura is absolutely right - Hippie Chick has a kiln-striking glass in it so you get a pleasant surprise when you take them out of the kiln! Love that!!!
Laura, yummy beads. Can't wait to see some of the Magpie Magic blend!

Snuck out in the studio today after a torturous absence, got three sets done using Hippie Chick, Midnight Hour and Ebb Tide. Will post pics tomorrow, really nice blends to work with!

Because we need more porn (bead porn that is)
Here is my next to latest outting with the new blend of Angela's named "Magpie Magic". (This was the unmarked sample I received sometime back and was calling Elfin Magic in earlier posts).
These were done using my M-15 oxycon rather than tank ... we have determined that Magpie Magic is an oxy ho. Not "quite" as colorful ... but hey I'll take them.
Light ones are on base of Momka Greener Trails and the dark ones are on a base of TAG DFO Moss ... you should just see the sparkles shining through on those!!!
The latest batch I switched back to the tank and yowzers ... M Magic loves her some oxy!! They are currently still out in the kiln. Hopefully tomorrow I will get them home and cleaned.

disaster! my kiln is on the fritz. called and they are sending parts but won't get here till next week, damn, i may have to do laundry and clean house.................hey, what if i keep making beads and put them in a can of vermiculite and next week batch anneal them? what do you think collective brain?
maybe i don't have to clean and wash.
i will post what i got today. all the suggested bases colors that came with my sample pack of hippie chick have been killer wonderful.

Yes vermeculite and then batch anneal. Not my preferred method but it works ... especially boro beads that aren't as shocky.
Just ramp up slowly when you are all fixed and ready to anneal.

Laura, love that Magpie Magic! Excited to see pics of the beads made with the tanked oxy.
Sara, LOL, "may have to do laundry and clean house..." Yep, been there, done that. I finally gave in today and unearthed my dining room table! I knew those legs were holding something up! Can't wait to see Hippie Chick pics! (I'm a little biased, but I think Hippie Chick ROCKS!). Hope your kiln parts get to you and you're back up and running soon.
Susan, you able to torch again? Miss your posts!

Kare, those are beautiful! Love the Invictus on the Amazon Jewel! Is the middle one Invictus on Lori's Bronze? Great color reactions! So glad you're enjoying your frit!

Thank you. The amazon jewel reaction is one of my favorites so far. Yes, the middle is Invictus on Lorie's. I used a hissy oxy flame to burn off haze before adding clear frit and encasing. I played with your frit some more tonight;Hippie Chick, Ebb Tide, Celtic Spring, Midnight Hour and of course Invictus. There are 17 more beads in the kiln-fingers crossed

Kare ... beautiful ... I especially love the Invictus on the Amazon Jewel ... I'll have to try that one out and see how it looks for me.
I'm getting ready to leave for work but will head to studio to retrieve beadies whenever I escape the day job!!

Thanks Laura. I've been away from my torch for a year so it is fun to play again
Results from last night.
1. GA Amazon Canyon HF Invictus Frit
2. GA Amazon Canyon HF Celtic Spring Frit
3. GA Amazon Canyon HF Hippie Chick Frit
4. GA Amazon Canyon HF Midnight Hour Frit
5. GA Amazon Canyon HF Ebb Tide Frit
6. GA Aquatic Carnival HF Invictus Frit
7. GA Aquatic Carnival HF Hippie Chick Frit
8. GA Amazon Jewel HF Invictus Frit (I didn't "de-haze" the frit as much before adding clear. I like the colors better de-hazed)
9. GA Amazon Jewel HF Hippie Chick Frit
10. GA Amazon Jewel HF Celtic Spring Frit
11. GA Amazon Jewel HF Midnight Hour Frit
12. GA Amazon Jewel HF Ebb Tide Frit
13. GA Amazon Jewel HF Invictus Frit
14. Clear HF Celtic Spring Frit
15. NS Onyx HF Ebb Tide Frit
16. NS Onyx HF Celtic Spring Frit
17. NS Silver Bullet HF Invictus Frit
I tend to make two beads per mandrel when testing, as a result the first bead in reheated multiple times, bringing out different colors than a simple flame strike.

the photos of my work with Hippie Chick are not at all true to the colors of the bead so posting is a waste of time. Secondly............ the dying of my kiln meant that the temperature was totally wonky on all the beads yesterday which would affect the color. in a eyeball-to-actual-bead assessment Hippie Chick on Violet hue (a dark red-blue) was great as was it on Lokis Lipstick (wonderful purples) and Amazon Bronze (kind of a burgundy base with all the colors of the rainbow) effect. The Hippie C on clear shows mostly a gray silver to the surface effect with very little color. will redo this one when my kiln is fixed since Hippie C is a kiln striker at some level and my dying kiln is probably the reason it didn't do well on clear. the hunt goes on, next week. will do some beads and put them in vermiculite till kiln is fixed. have a great weekend all.

He heee ... when I'm particularly snitty I tell him there is always oatmeal. (It is the one think he will make for himself). He does eat it a couple times a month.
He's 50+, lived on his own for at least 4 years and hasn't figured out how to feed himself. It is a god foresaken shame and I blame his mother.

Yup or Toast and Hot Chocolate ... one of his other "go to" meals.
He can fend for himself if he has too, he's just so high brained that thinking about food isn't in his realm.
You can't even take him out to eat because he can't ever decide what he wants ... just what he doesn't want!!
I recently got home from work ... but I have tomorrow off ... yippee ... I'm gonna go sneak out into the afternoon sun to try to get some sparklily pix!!

More Magpie Magic porn
So as I promised Angela ... here is maggie magic on the tank. Big ovals are on Slyme, small rounds are mighty moss and almond nugget bases.

Kare, WOW! You were busy! I love how thorough you are when testing. You got some spectacular results and I really appreciate that you took the time to take photos and post them. Nice beads!
Diana, glad your frit got to you so quickly! Can't wait to see how your first dip in the boro pool goes! Good luck!
Laura, yummy! Magpie Magic definitely likes its oxygen. I named it appropriately - you worked your magic with it!
I went to the ISGB Bead Bazaar yesterday and haven't had a chance to fire up the kiln much this past week but I'm hoping I get some torch time this week.
