Hot Head History?
Since the Hot Head torch is so popular among beginners, why is there so little information on it?
Who developed it?
How long has it been around?
What physical attributes have changed over the years?
Where is it manufactured?
How can you tell a genuine HH vs a knockoff?
And why does Ed Hoy have such a crappy website for it?

I think it was Cindy Jenkins, but that is fuzzy so don't bank on it.

I had a website bookmarked, http://www.hotheadsource.com, but is doesn't work anymore. I remember that it had lots of information.
Edit: parts of it seem to be working now. Hope it helps.

Cindy Jenkins "Making Glass Beads" created it.

You might try the wayback machine for the hot head source web page.

Adding in, it's sad that there isn't really a history on her or the HH. I tried googling and truth be told, I've never even seen a bead that she's made.
Granted, I didn't buy her books, but you know what I mean, no web presence. I started in '03 and have been on WC and here, I can't recall seeing her post ever. Anytime someone had a problem they were sent to her HH site. I can't even get her web page to come up, which one site said is http://www.hotheadglass.com for her beads.

Back in the day the only resources were the ISGB forum and Cindy Jenkin's book. I must have read that thing 100 times. I think Corina had a book or two but they were out of my price range at the time. Has it been around 20 years yet?

I learned on a Hot Head back in 2000. It wasn't a new product then.

Yep, got my HH in 2000. My DH sat beside me reading Cindy Jenkins' book on how to light the torch the first time. Having a gas canister between my legs as I lit the torch wasn't a comforting feeling. But, nothing blew up and I happily burned (literally) some glass.

Well, the other day when I was trying to find info on her, this site says she invented it in 1993. The book is from 1997.
http://www.glassfacts.info/index088d.html?fid=230
I keep finding mention of a book she was writing on the HH in 2005, she was looking for artists to be in it. But I guess that never came about.
Also there is a Cindy Jenkins that passed away in September, hope it's not the same one? It just cemented my post that I know nothing about someone so innovative and invented something we almost all used at one point, if not the HH then for sure the book, that's all I see googling, 'i learned from Cindy's book", "it all started with Cindy's book."
