Default Glass on Wire...

I've been making beads for almost 3 years now. I am attempting a new idea and I am having some technical difficulties.

I am trying to put a bobble/teardrop of glass on a piece of wire. Does anyone have suggestions on the best technique, best wire to use etc?

Much appreciated! Thanks.

I was taught to do this when I was first learning from Stephanie Madalena. She had us use 16 gauge copper wire. Get it hot in the flame (glowing red) and attach your glass then.

You can use just about any size wire.... craft wire works well as 'most' of it is copper based. Get your glass really hot and ready to put on the wire. Barely heat the wire and add the glass. If you want a tear drop. Add glass and then hold the wire upside down so gravity pulls the glass down into a teardrop.

Mine go directly into the kiln.

You might want a hemostat to hold the wire...

I have heard of using both steel wire and sterling silver. The sterling would have to be cleaned up afterward though.
