Default Earring question

I have a customer that wants me to make earrings out of 1956 uncirculated nickels for his wife's 50th birthday.

He wants two coins in each earring. Any ideas? He does not mind if I punch holes. Do you think 2 coins would be kind of heavy?

Any ideas???

Maybe you should ask him if she wears heavy earrings.I would think 2 would be heavy also, and it would be much easier to design around one.Good luck!

If he has to have two to an ear make one a post earring and dangle the other from it? Just a thought to try to redistribute the weight a bit.

Sounds way too heavy, especially if you add anything else. Instead of drilling holes in the nickels, you could set them in a bezel. I'm planning to do that with Euros from Malta as a memento for my DD and turn them into pendants.

I agree w/Astrid. A post with the larger coin, and then dangling the other off of it will cut the weight in 1/2! I can't handle heavy earrings.

There may be a reason for 2 nickels each side, something sentimental? I would ask though. Frankly, not something I would wear even if sentimental..men can be so weird. My ex bought me a necklace with an angry grizzly bear carved on it.

And I'm just curious why 1956 instead of 1961~

If he wants 2, maybe a bracelet or necklace would be a better option?
