Default Messy colors

I have never played around with messy colors. Frantz is having a great sale so I thought it may be time to try them. Recommendation on your favorite colors would be appreciated, also are there any reactive colors.

CiM's got a lot of good colors to play with! My current favorites are:

Marshmallow--a translucent white that goes great with silver glass
Peace--a good sturdy white
Gelly's Sty--one of the best opaque pinks out there
Lapis--a gorgeous dark opaque blue
Bordello--a hilariously-named transparent garnet
Cranberry Pink--a well-behaved dark transparent pink
Clockwork--a ferocious transparent orange
Halong Bay--a lovely translucent light blue, but good luck finding it
Peacock Green--a slightly translucent middling green, very nice
Crocus--a delicious light purple translucent
Stone Ground--a really good ivory
Elphaba--a versatile pea-green
Leaky Pen--a very interesting dark blue teal
Canyon de Chelley--a wonderful streaky brown
Hades--a seriously good black that reacts well with silver glass
Adamantium--a manly dark gray
Gunmetal--A black with a silvery sheen

I'm pretty sure that I'm forgetting a few, but they're all good and very nice to work with. By all means, try them out!

These are all good CIM neutrals:

Stoneground (the quasi-equivalent of Eff Yellow Opal)
Tuxedo (a dependable black)
Canyon de Chelly ["de-shay"]
Khaki

I'll third that Stoneground, think opal yellow with more blush- really nice color!

Tuxedo is fantastic for stringer work for all but the very fine hair, also dots and work on white. It doesn't bleed easily or show purple except very thin.

Their greens really round out the 104 pallette, I don't have pics but Sherwood and Mermaid are green blues that are really nice, also olive.

I like Phoenix for blushing orange, and Sangre for transparent red.

My all time favorite CIM colors are Dirty Martini and Appletini. I like the Butter Pecan and Ginger for flesh tones.

I love Halong Bay so when I heard it was being discontinued I bought a few pounds. I am hoarding it accordingly.

Thai orchid's a terrific purple - my all time favorite
Smurfy and Electric Avenue blues are bright and happy
Rainforest, Mermaid and Sherwood greens are lovely

I love working with bright colors and CIM's got them. Nuetrals are nice too this glass is just so easy to work with.

I haven't found one CIM color that I haven't liked. Well maybe that slug looking one...I think it was mink? ewww

Let me second:
Crocus (Just the yummiest opal purple/lavender)
Stone Ground (A bit of a chameleon; can be tannish, but can also strike to pinks/browns. Personally I don't find it anything like Opal Yellow, but that could be cause I'm on a HH; ymmv)
Lapis (It's more of a purple than a blue in my eyes; again ymmv)
Hades (its, erm, black LOL)
Dirty Martini (doesn't look like much, but turns out to be quite versatile used with other colors)

Also, I'm loving:
Maraschino (Bright translucent red)
Ghee (an opally yellow, but turns a delicious brown when struck or especially with silver)
Azure (gorgeous trans blue)

On the other hand, I'm not fond of Peace; I prefer Effetre's whites and I don't like Canyon De Chelly as it doesn't like me and just remains a putrid grey.

HTH!

Alli, just ordered Crocus. Is it just me, I find the Frantz site a real pain in the ass to navigate, not just this time but every time I go there.

It can be Bob, but at least it's not as crappy as ABR's site! Don't peruse that site unless you know exactly what you want; that one is truly a PITA.

And this is what Stone Ground does for me:

You can see all the lovely striations of color. Now Canyon De Chelly is supposed to do something similar, but all I ever get is grey mud.

I remember that one, Alli. Stoneground doesn't do that for me. Neither does CoC, though.

Thanks alli, the stoned ground, did you use silver or does it do that on it's own.

Those are SIS shards over it Bob, but Stone Ground does that rainbow thing for me even without. I do wonder if it's a result of using a HH, but in any case it makes a great neutral and loves silver.

HTH!

Alli that has to be canyon de chelly!
CDC has those colors, mostly when I was on a HH. http://creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=6 I can only get yellow out of stone ground, on HH or my cricket. http://creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=38

Hades is an awesome black, loves silver and silver glasses, webs like intense black if you super heat.

I'm sort of the same as Ali Oops, I like all but mink. And sepia...I have tons of both for some reason. We should do a 'Mink Challenge' lol!

LOL Nope Raven; it is definitely Stone Ground.

Two hearts; the left is Stone Ground w/ silvered shards, the right CDC with Psyche:

Name: IMG_7110-001.jpg
Views: 555
Size: 19.1 KB

When I saw the CDC was doing it's pukey grey thing as usual, I half assed that heart so it's not a pretty one in any way LOL but the difference in color is pretty clear. Now WHY SG makes nice for me, I have no idea!
