Gifted Dichro rod question
As I expected, now that I'm more into glass-work, I'm starting to get glass gifts from well meaning friends. This past Christmas, I received sample rods of Dichroic coated 104COE rods from sun-dance glass. Unfortunately, I've never used dichro before and I have a general idea of how to use it, but everything that I've ever found online shows people using sheets. So my question is, what do you do with coated rod, I'm really at a loss and I don't want to disappoint my friend by just leaving it sit on the bench unused. Anybody have any ideas or examples that they'd care to share?

Does the coating cover the entire surface of the rod? I'm used to strips of sheet dichro too.

Take a color and put it on the coated side of the rod, then pull a twistie.

That's a nifty idea. The coating only goes about a third of the way around, so that would work great.

make sure you work cool and cover that coating side so you don't burn it off. Also don't stick the coating directly in the flame, it burns easily and turns yucky gray.
