Default Fans

Hello!

I am wondering why I am seeing such price differences in fans...

I am looking for a inline fan that moves roughly 600-700CFM.

My local electrical supplier sells a 10in inline fan that moves 695CFM (0"SP) for $510CAN.

Meanwhile, I found an 8in inline fan that moves 722CFM for $280CAN. Here is the website: http://www.canadianwholesalehydropon...ls=1&catpage=2

Am I comparing apples to apples or is there something different about the fan from the online store? How can a smaller sized fan move more CFM? Am I being tricked? Something seems to good to be true...

I would love to know what others think/have experienced...
Thanks so much,
Annie.

The cost of a fan varies because;

a. Where it is manufactured - USA, Canada, China, etc.
b. Quality and local cost of manufacturing materials.
c. Design and tooling involved. Is it a longstanding product line from big company or smaller facility doing niche product?
d. Shiping, labor costs, customs costs, etc.
e. guarantees and warrantees added.

The capacity of the fan varies mostly due to the design. Motor design, motor RPM, impellor design, current draw, wire quality, labor costs, automation and tooling Plus the enclosure design and materials all add or subtract from costs.

I am a strong advocate of free furnace squirrel cage fans from the local HVAC places. Sometimes the inline fan is the only choice however.
