plastic storage units for your glass
Hi everyone,
After a two year search I have found a supplier of the plastic storage units I had made for me 2 years ago. These storage units are made out of plastic that is 1/8" in thickness, have 6 rectangular holes (each hole is 1" tall and 2" wide) for each colored rod and come 6 holes wide and 6 holes tall. The storage units are 18" deep with a plastic back so the rods will not go out the back end.
I am attaching a picture of my racks so you can see what I am talking about. Below is the contact information where you too can get some for yourself! The price is $75 each INCLUDING SHIPPING!!!!). I can tell you that I have priced the actual 1/8" plastic sheets and the best price I could find was $45! Considering the labor costs, these are a GREAT deal!
"The cabinets (glass storasge units) measure 13" wide by 7" high by 18" deep and have pockets (rectangulsr holes) 1" high by 2" wide made from strong 1/8 thick acrylic all seams are glued for maximum strength the bottom, sides, and top are all one pieceof 1/8" acrylic. The back is glued for even more strength." If would like to place an order please pay by papal or check to:

I am SO happy that I can give back to my fellow glass torch friends - you all helped me SO much after my heart attach that this is the least I can do in return. BIG HUGS!!!!!

ps. I am not affiliated in any way with the company. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity as I did 2 years ago. The old company was bought up by a BIG company and doesn't do custom work anymore.

Hey Rich what is the shipping cost on these?
Looks like a great storage system. Thanks for offering it here.
I remember way back when you first started looking into it.

Wow the 75.00 inculding shipping is a great deal!
Suzy how I see it and read it there are 36 Cubbies in each one, and are 18 inches deep so you can even have your rods cut in 1/2 instead of 1/3 if you wish. Is that right Rich?

You are correct. Rods can be cut in eithet half or thirds, whatever you'd like. 36 holes in each unit and 18" long. I have 6 of them and ALL 216 holes are filled with 104 COE glass - talk about a glass hog! I plan on getting at least 2 more also!!!!!

Rich,
Thanks so much for sharing this! If we e-mail them......is there a special name for the storage units...like the "Rich storage units"? ....so they will know what I am sending them money for?

The man didn't tell me BUT I told him about the glass groups I belong to, maybe just mention my name if you'd like.

I want to tell you, my glass situation is SO MUCH better. I keep the rods in order that matches the order form numbers so it is SO EASY to reorder glass when I get low. Before, it was a guessing game...lol.
I can't over emphasize how reasonable the price for what you get is. I had contacted at least 5 other places and the CHEAPEST rack was $100 and it was not as well constructed as these racks are. The $75 includes shipping! I just about dropped my phone when he quoted me the retail price and had to take a breath when he said that it included shipping!

I wonder if you might contact him and ask if he might modify for you?
It's worth a try Jeannie!!!
Let us know if he'd do that - others might want a 12" version too.

I just called George! He DOES make a 12"deep x 12" x 18" one. He also has a diagonal divider available that would make any of the 2" square sections into 2 sections! I am getting more info and will post it here ASAP!!!

It looks like the 12 x 12 x 18 are $90 plus $12 shipping. Though they look like they are clear acrylic. I am waiting for answers to a few questions and will post as I have information. ~J

Ok, I will correct the above information. I got more info from George. He said he gave me the wrong info. It is actually 12" deep, 12" wide and 18" high (or I'm sure you could turn it. Just a guess.) Thus the $90 price as it is bigger. He said the V divider didn't work well so they took my suggestion of a diagonal divider cutting each square into 2. The dividers are going to be $.50 each He will also have a 3rd size: 6 x 6 x 18"deep, 1" square holes for $50. I can get more info tomorrow if you think of anything else.

Jeannie, if you think to ask. . .
what size are the "holes" in the 12x12x18 model? are they still 1x2 or are thay 2x2? And how many holes are there? It's confusing because the model Rich has is 13x7x18 which takes into account the "thickness" of the walls between the holes but these measurements apparently do not?
Thanks for doing this. These look so great!

I'll ask him. I have a number of apointments today and will talk to him in between those and I'll let you guys know at least by tonight if not sooner. I am pretty sure they are still the 2" holes but I'll verify that.

I wanted to post the thickness for your measuring of the space you have to set them into. My units are 1" by 2" inside EACH hole. The 7" tall by 13" wide takes into account the thickness of the plastic walls separating each hole.
I gotta tell you guys, this is SO exciting!!!

Jeannie, I am getting confused with the sizes. Do you think there is any chance that they could send you a picture of these?

I think I like the size of these ones (with the dividers) better than the ones that Rich originally posted about (here and on WetCanvas). I'll be waiting to hear more on the other sizes. Thank you, Jeannie, for finding out the information.

Ok, I must apologize. I was hardly home today. Had so many appointments. I will be calling George tomorrow (Thursday). Thanks for your patience. About pictures, he did send me a link to pictures of one he made for someone but it was her website. I will ask him to make sure I can post that here. Hmmm, or maybe I'll try to download the pix or import them here. More tomorrow!
