Default Mosaic Green "explosion"

I was working on a medium sized bead for the Regaliz system. The base was dk ivory (it was curdling nicely too, I think). I added a stripe of Peach Persimmon coral and underneath that I added a couple of swipes of SIS. It looked nice so far. On the top of the Coral I added just a couple of swipes of absolutely hair thin stringer pieces of Intense black. Still, everything is looking good (even when hot). THEN I got carried away and decided to add a bit of hair thin stringer of Mosaic Green......WTF! The darn thing almost immediately "exploded" all over the top of the bead! I THINK the area turned dk brown or black I couldn't tell. I've used the mosaic green before to get the webbed effect of trees on some of my beads, too.

Does Mosaic green NOT like ivory? I was careful with the eat and everything.
My above observations are only from when the piece went INTO the kiln but I'll check when I get home (yes, I'll include pics)

If the mosaic green does this all the time is there another green that still creates this webbing effect and DOESN'T turn brown or black?

Thanks

Duane

The greens react like the turquoises and petroleum green does. I think there is copper in the color pigment, and that really hates the sulfur in ivory.

(did I get my glass chemistry right??)

Yep, the Mosaic Green goes crazy. Check it out on one of my charts:

There's a pic of a bead made with Mosaic Green and Ivory in Shawn's Tips thread: http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/sh...49&postcount=2

It's an awesome bead, but she suggests tiny dots; I guess even a hair thin stringer is too much.

Thanks. You can also use it to see if a specific color will react with a copper containing color (check the pet mix column - pet mix is a mix of petroleum green & white) or with any of the special colors (reds, yellows, browns, ivory - just check the ivory column). This is one of the specific questions these charts were set up to answer.
