Thanks for the wonderful tutorial, Sarah! It certainly is inspirational. And the many useful tips within the process will help to illuminate the making of other forms of beads as well.

Here are a couple of Fire Goddesses from Down Under.....
Cheers!
Di.

Hi...
I spotted this tutorial earlier, but i did not have the guts to try and make a goddess...
Yesterday i did...
Here's the result:

Her feet got a little too cool when doing her hair, but hey... for the first one, she's not half bad i guess...

Thanks Kevan!....I love your goddesses too!

Sarah, your tutorial got me started on goddesses, and now they have evolved and grown....and I've been making gods too, but they might be a bit too anatomical for some of the more restrained sensibilities here as they tend to cause a stir on the Aussie Beadmakers Forum whenever I post pics of them.....

Here's a couple of the latest goddesses....

Cheers!
Di.

Wow Di, I really like your last one! It's almost like she's unfolding her wings to fly away. Would you consider posting your Gods in another post with appropriate warnings?

Thanks Elaine!....I've been thinking about doing just that....will have to figure out how to put the warnings up first though.....don't want to get kicked off such a wonderful source of information and inspiration, no do I?!?

And yes, my winged gddess is unfurling her wings....I'm a silversmith as well as lampwork beadmaker and I made her specifically to go inside a sterling silver/gold/copper cage I'm curently making, all to be hung of a sterling silver handmade chain and clasp....I'll post pics when I've finished in the jewellery section....if it all works out to plan, that is....

Cheers!
Di.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've been admiring all the goddesses but I wasn't quite ready to try one, until I read this! My first few are in the kiln. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Thanks again!

Here they are. Quick front and back shots of the first four I've ever made, in order left to right. Thanks again for the wonderful tutorial!

Thank you so much for getting me started on making goddesses. I honestly had no idea where to start before finding this tutorial.

I just realized that I never got around to posting pictures of any goddess I made using your tut.

I made this one in March '07 and it is still my favorite so far. I think it was the 5th or 6th one I had done. I turned it into a pendant and wear it all the time. Who doesn't want an extra pair of bewbies on their chest from time to time?

Your goddess tut is AWESOME. Thanks again!

Di, you should post one of your gods. They are so great. Obviously it won't be a problem in this thread.

I just want to once again, compliment everyone who keeps going out on a limb and trying something new for themselves.

If I've been able to help you, I feel the power. Sounds corny doesn't it.

BUt its true.. it must be the teacher in me. I love helping others learn something new.

Hugs to all and keep melting that glass!

Hi!
Sorry I have to crosspost. I posted this goddess in the other thread with Teresas tutorial, but as I owe very much to this tut, too, I want to post her here as well.

Wow, Di - this is especially gorgeous!!! The wing work is just great!

Gotta say, though - I just don't get it!!! Here, in America, we seem to have no difficulty being all about the feminine T&A; hell, shows like "Top Model", etc., practically show gals in their birthday suits! Yet, the second we even mention the (masculine) "P" word, everyone gasps, mothers cover their children's eyes, and the fainting begins! What Up with all that?

And although most women I know enjoy dressing at least a bit sexy and leaving lots to the imagination, most men have no difficultly dropping their drawers and letting it all hang out with the slightest prompting~!

Thanks for sharing your work - everyone!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone....it really makes a difference, especially to me (I'm battling lots of health problems including degenerative neurological ones, so every bit of art I can do is a blessing!!).....

Here are some more recent goddesses.....and a framed "Green Man" (refer to Celtic myths and the Wessex novels of Thomas Hardy for details) that I just completed.....and yes, I made the sterling silver frame too....

Have fun all!
Cheers!

Red face Thanks for the Help!

Hey Sarah,
I've been using your tutorial for inspiration on how I construct my Goddess beads (minus the head) and it's really going well!
Thanks so much for posting this tut!
Here are some examples of some of the gals that I've made so far:
